The Test stage

Test one claim with five real people.

A useful test asks someone to do something observable. Compliments, likes, and “I would buy that” are not proof.

01

Choose one question

Example: “Will local dog owners book a $25 thirty-minute walk?” Name the person, offer, price or commitment, and time period.

02

Choose five relevant people

Pick people who actually have the problem—not friends whose main goal is to encourage you.

03

Ask for one action

Ask them to book, pay a deposit, join a short trial, use a sample, schedule a call, or introduce you to the buyer.

Ready-to-edit message

Use this script.

“I’m testing a small [product or service] for [specific person] who wants [specific result]. Would you [book / try / pay / use] the current version by [date] and tell me where you got stuck? I need actual use, not a compliment.”

Before you ask

Write the decision rule first.

  • Continue: at least 3 of 5 take the action.
  • Change: interest is real, but the same objection repeats.
  • Test access: too few qualified people saw it.
  • Stop: qualified people understand it but do not act.

Record behavior

Write down what happened.

For each person, record the action requested, what they did, the exact objection, and whether you will follow up. Then apply the rule you wrote before the test.
